Please be advised that on January 1, 2017, Mower County implemented a new office procedure requiring that a Property Adjustment Application be completed and submitted along with required information to Mower County for any change to taxpayers’ property. This includes property splits, corrections to legal descriptions of existing property, and the combining of existing property. This application is not required for transferring of property.
The preferred application process is to submit prior to recording documents. At which time the application will be reviewed and correspond any questions with the taxpayer or their attorney to help ensure that all aspects of the changes that are going to be taking place are going to result in what the taxpayer is expecting. If the application is submitted at the time of recording or after recording, it may delay the processing of the requested adjustment(s), cause re-recording of documents, or possibly result in penalties, depending on the situation of the adjustment.
