Mower County Planning Commission

Overview:

The Mower County Planning Commission meets the first Tuesday of the month, when applications are received. The Planning Commission hears requests for Conditional Use Permits, Zoning Amendments, and other projects as directed by the Board of Commissioners. The Planning Commission conducts a public hearing and makes a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners for the final decision on any request.  Planning Commission administration and By-Laws can be found in the Division 4 of the Mower County Zoning Ordinance.

The Mower County Board of Adjustment consists of the same 5 members as the Planning Commission, less the Commissioner.  No elected official or employee of the County Board may serve as a member of the Board of Adjustment.  The Board of Adjustment has the exclusive power to issue variances from the official controls and to hear and decide appeals from any decision made under Minnesota Statutes 394.21 through 394.37; see Division 5 of the Mower County Zoning Ordinance.

Members of the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment serve in three-year terms and may serve up to three consecutive terms.
