Duties

The county administrator is the administrative head of the county and is responsible for the overall management of county operations and for carrying out all decisions, policies, ordinances and resolutions of the Board of Commissioners. Other responsibilities include:

  • Directing and facilitates special studies, as needed, to improve services
  • Overseeing the annual budget
  • Reporting directly to the board and acts as a liaison between the board and its departments
  • Serving on a wide variety of county-related boards and committees to enhance the organization in general and to serve the best interests of the county in accordance with its vision and mission

Housing Tax Abatement

Any person who constructs a new single family home, duplex, or multi-family complex and who files application material and seeks formal approval from appropriate local jurisdiction now through December 31, 2025 may be eligible to receive 100% tax abatement of the County’s share of increased real estate taxes as a result of building newly constructed housing or a home, for a period of five years.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE)

PACE provides low interest loan funds available to business owners to improve energy efficiency. More Information can be found on the Rural Minnesota Energy Board website and also summarized in the PACE Flyer and PACE Brochure.

Austin / Mower County Homeownership Fund Lending

The Austin/Mower County Homeownership Fund (A/MCHF) was created in 1997 to provide a flexible source of secondary funds to families and individuals interested in purchasing a home. For more information regarding Loan criteria please view the Loan Criteria (PDF)  or ask your local lender.
